jeramiah fwalters 2this book is going to be about a boy who has to live in a time where zombies are all over and has to try and survive with his family in a small town
Alex P.Mrs. Scheller 1st I agree with Jeramiah. This book is very interesting because it is full of crazy and scary things that makes you feel as if your in the book. I totally agree with him.
jeramiah fwlaters 2my review was this book was that it was one of my favorite. there was alot of things that suprised me but nothing suprised me more then the ending which you will have to read to figure out. if the world ever turned it to the rot & ruin i would probley try and live like tom because his a bounty hunter and he keeps everone and himself safe. i wouldnt not go looking for the lost girl because no one evrer comes back. if you like zombie books i highly recomend this book.
I feel the same about this book. It is very good and I would also not go looking for the lost girl. Tom is a great character and I like when he says "It's hard to imagine that there is so much hurt and harm out there, isn't it?" (Pg.276). I like that quote because Tom has seen some horrible things but has sheltered Benny from it. Now it is Bennys turn to understand. Tori B.Jones 1st Hour
This book is very shocking! There is alot of things in it that i would have never expected like them Tom and Benny are talking about Nix's family and he was shocked that she had never mentioned it. Tom said "If jessie told her about her father and brother, then either Nix has chosen not to say something to her friends or she blocked it out like everyone else" pg 193. I really thought that it had just been nix and her mom the whole time. And to find out that they are linked to the lost girl is just crazy! It definitly makes me want to keep reading. I agree with you and living like Tom. Tom is very cautious of the rot and ruin but knows what to expect. His ideas of Closures on zombies is a good idea. It shows his respect toward the zombies and their families. Looking for the lost girl I think is a good idea because Tom can be at peace knowing that she is okay.Jared V. Jones 1st Hour.
Alex P.Mrs. SchellerI agree with Jared V. I agree with him because Tom is very precautions with the Rot and Ruin because he tries his best to keep his brother and himself safe from these terrible creatures. Also it was a good idea have shown Benny how the Rot and Ruin is.
michael p.spencer6'thI think this book will be enjoyable to read I am a very big fan of everything zombie.
This book is very enjoyable. I am always wondering what is going to happen next. Just when I suspect something is going to happen, something else different happens and it leaves me speechless. This is a great book and I would love to read the other ones. I would recommend this book to anyone who is in the the post-apocalyptic world books.Jared V.Jones 1st Hour
Alex P.Mrs. Scheller 1st In the book Rot and Ruin, the setting is zombies and a hidden place where zombies aren’t allowed. The setting is hard the main character because he hasn’t been outside since he lost his parents. He has an older brother he is a bounty hunter. The main character thoughts are mixed together with zombies, his live, and trying to find a job because at the age of 15(which he is 15) where he lives every single person who has that age they must have a job if not then, they cut there number of meals. If I were to adapt to the character’s environment I would try my best to not show my emotions to the setting and live along with the setting. Why? Because I wouldn’t want to get emotional over something that cannot be changed.
Mohamed K.Mrs.Scheller 1stIn the book the setting is a zombie Apocalypse scenario. The effect the setting has on tom is that the environment makes tom feel more cautious like he can’t trust anyone and has nothing to do in the safe zone without a job yet. It makes him think badly of his brother and think good of the bad and not like the world he lives in I would say, It’s just that the zombie world has an overall bad effect on tom. If I had to adapt to toms environment I would be sad that my family died and I have one lone connection in the world. But I would also learn to survive and you know do what they do in zombie movies for example walking dead. It would also be cool like a video game or something like that killing zombies or shooting guns.
Trent M Mrs Scheller 3rd hourI agree when you say that. With all of these zombies just them. That it is affecting Tom and his personality. But you also have to remember that it is also affecting Benny because he is then one up close and personal with big brother is a bounty hunter.
Alex P.1st Hour Mrs. SchellerI agree with Trent M. because I fell as if not only Benny is changing his emotion but Tom as well. He has been more quiet since the day he took his brother out in the ruin. But that is why they have each other so that they may help one another with their problems.
Trent MMrs Schellers 3rd hourIn the book called Rot and Ruin. The setting affects the decision of the main characters life path. The setting is a little town with walls built up to protect the people and it is scary place but in the village it is a safe place but there is dirty work to be done outside those walls and that is to kill the zombies which is what main character does because of his brother doing it, it made him make the decision to follow in his footsteps all because of the setting. Because he was looking for all different jobs but then the part of the setting when his brother asks him to help kill zombies will affect his life.
Mohamed K.Mrs.scheller 3rdThat is true that Benny is following in his footsteps but he also hated the "family business". He hated the family business because he thought his brother was a coward and a wimp. Also i agree when you said that the killing zombies will change his life. It will mentally scare him killing and maybe wondering about that zombies past.
Corey VMrs. Scheller 7thThe book Rot and Ruin is based in the zombie apocalypse 14 years after the “first night”. Benny the main character lives in town of survivor with his older brother Tom. Growing up in the town made benny tough and unfearful of zombies. He hates his brother because he believes Tom left his Mom to die. Despite the zombies benny still goes to school and still has friends. Benny acts and likes the zombie hunters because growing up inside the city made him not real know the horror of killing zombies. This also made him thing his brother is a wimp, although no one in town agrees with him. If I was in the setting I would be just like Benny. I would hate my brother for letting my mom die, but continue on with life through going to school and making friends.
Mohamed.KMrs. Scheller 7thI see your point Corey in hating your older brother because he ran away but how do you know if he wasn't told to. Also the point where you choose to just continue living is a smart decision because your mom and dad wouldn't want you turn into a zombie over their death. Benny is also a good character to be in the book because he is not scared but is cautious.
Trent M Mrs Scheller 3rd hourI disagree with the fact that Tom left their parents to die, because there was no way of being able to even save their parents anyways. But i do agree when you say that Benny still dont know the horror of being a zombie killer51. But he just says hes a wimp he knows that he is really not a wimp but he does it just to get under his skin.If I was in Bennys position i wouldnt be blaming Tom for saying that he had killed their parents. Because i think he knows that Tom couldnt have done anything about it.
Mohamed K.Mrs.Scheller 3rdIn rot and ruin I observed tom imuaras actions and came to the conclusion that his action, values, and behavior that I disagree with ae mostly just the way he thinks of the zombies and how he doesn’t kill them when they are already dead but just not for fun but for survival. Tom believe in these morals and doesn’t kill the zombies because he believes it is disrespect he gave an example by saying if someone came and took a leak in your dead aunts coffin would you be fine with that. If they had anyone who cared about them they would have already reached out to tell someone to go find them and put them down so there is no point in keeping them roaming and dangerous without purpose that’s what’s wrong with it. I would suggest to tom to just start killing the zombies that get in his way instead of detouring and wasting energy because some morals that are old the world like that doesn’t have time for the weak.
Corey VMrs Scheller 7th In the book Tom makes a valid point that if someone is stomping on your parents grave you would do something about it. It the same but different if the zombies have a threat to your wellbeing then it is fine to “quiet them”. What if they do find a cure, All the zombies they killed just to kill would not have a chance to comeback because of that. One of those zombies could be someone alive Mom or Best friend but now they can never comeback.
Trent MollettScheller 3rd hourIn the book Rot and Ruin Benny's brother like try's to force Benny to be a zombie killer by saying things to make up for letting there parents die and to try and avenge there death by killing zombies but Bennie didn't even let them die he had no way of stopping it. but what bennies brother is trying to do is not right by bringing up tragic events and blaming it on his little brother just to get him to do what he wants because it puts Bennie in a very awkward situation and then he will feel obligated to do what ever Bennies brother says for Bennie to do. To me thats not right.
Corey vMrs. Scheller 7thTrent In the book Rot and Ruin, Tom, Benny’s brother did not force him to become a zombie killer it was benny who came to Tom. Benny tried to find multiply jobs around town to make money to buy his meals. After going out in Ruin with Tom he dislikes Tom’s job but agrees to keep doing it with him.
David M.Mrs.Scheller 1stTrent M.I agree with that because he needs to avenge his parents death by killing every zombie that ever lived. But later he consider being like Tom because he has no other choice plus he can’t find a job that can considering hiring him. Also Tom did not force benny he came to Tom.
Mohamed K.Mrs.scheller 3rdDavid since I agree with you on the conflict I would say your a very smart boy. But on the famous part I believe he thinks his brother is a coward and doesn't want to really mess with him at all. That is also true and I agree that Benny does not want o be like tom. It also surprised me too when it happened it was a huge plot twist to be honest but it was kinda inevitable
Corey VMrs. Scheller 7thIn Rot and Ruin, I disagreed with Benny’s action of blaming his Mom’s death on his brother. Benny is doing this because he remembers his brother running away and leaving his mom to die. The problem is he was really young when his brother left his mom. Maybe his mom had already been bitten and Tom was saving both of their lives? If I was Benny, I would ask my brother what real happened that night. I would judge him before I held all the facts like Benny has. Either way I would not call my brother a coward just because he couldn’t save my mom.
Alex P.1st hour Mrs. SchellerOne important conflict in the book Rot and Ruin is Benny isn’t talking to nobody except his older brother. He has gotten visits from his friends, but does not tell them what is going on outside the hide out. Benny’s emotion right now are depressing, mad, and unsatisfied with what he has just see out there and with his older brother killing zombies. If I were to be Benny then I wouldn’t react this way because his Older brother Tom is doing all of this for good reasons’. He is trying his best to protect themselves from the zombies.

David M.Mrs.Scheller 1stAlex P.I agree with that because he needs to his friends whats going on in his life instead of not telling them whats going on. Benny is sad all the time.If I were to be Benny I would probably react this way because it was probably all Tom’s fault makeing his sad all the time because of his guilt.
Trent M Mrs Scheller 3rd hourI agree that this is a important conflict actually a very important conflict in this story because if he went around telling people what is outside those walls they would all go crazy and would be trying to escape the walls which could lead to people dying and they can not afford that to happen.
David M.Mrs.scheller 1st HourRot and Ruin’s one important conflict is Benny not considering being a zombie killer like his brother in the beginning. This is because he thinks he should be something else instead being someone like his famous brother. Also he doesn’t like Tom’s job because he doesn’t want to be just like him. My reaction to this is I’m surprised he doesn’t want to be zombie killer who saves people like Tom. But later in the book he consider being a zombie killer because he can’t find any jobs so he can pay for his meals.
TrentMrs SCheller 3rd hourI totally agree with the fact that when Benny has the choice to become a zom killer and anything eles he chooses to be a zom killer which does effect the story because it is a very important conflict in this story. Because if he didn't become a zom killer the whole story would be different.
Alex P.Mrs. Scheller 1st hourI agree with Trent M. This is so because now Benny is wanted to become a bounty hunter so he can show that he can do anything anyone asks for. Not only that but also so he can pay for his meals. Benny’s ideas may sometimes be crazy in the book but whatever he decides to do it will go right.
Gene M. Mrs.Sheller 1st hour I think the important thing that happened in the book was that benny and his brother got attacked by a zombie and his mom and dad were trying to protect them but sadly they both died and he and his brother did get away. The reason his brother does not want him to fight zombie is because he does not like killing them because they killed there parents. Some of the people already died because of the zombies that attacked them wich I think is not cool at all.
TrentMrs Scheller 3rd hourOne very important conflict that is in the story Rot and Ruins is when Benny was considering being a zom killer like his brother is at the beginning of the story. Because he could have chosen to do something way easier and he decided to choose a very hard job that is very risky considering that your life is at risk everyday. But when he chooses this job it affects his and everyone else lives with it because he likes saves people and has a chance of dying while doing it.
David M. To TrentI agree with you that when Benny was considering being a zom killer like his brother is at the beginning of the story. This is because he might of consider getting a job that wasn’t really hard. But when he chooses this job it affects his and everyone else lives with it because he likes saves people and has a chance of dying while doing it.
Mohamed K.Mrs.scheller 3rdI chose the same conflict as you Trent which is probably the biggest for the first 200 pages. But he didn't really choose he just didn't want to do any of the other boring jobs. That's true but don't forget he has his master killer brother tom to defend, teach, and take care of him so its all good.
David M.Mrs.Scheller 1stThe theme of Rot and Ruin is don't be rude to people and expect them to give you respect. This is because if you be rude then that person will be rude to you also because you started it. For Benny he didn’t get much respect because sometimes he be rude to people and then people were then rude to him. Another one is that he was kind of rude to get a job at a artist shop. But he never got the job because some of his rudeness. Lastly is that if you want respect then be kind to people and you will get it.
Alex P. Mrs. Scheller 1st hourI agree with David M. Because if you show respects for people they might feel special and their going to feel more special if he or she has no family members. I also agree with David M because whenever he was out n bout looking for a job he was rude with the artist and I believe that “that” is why he didn’t get the job.
It also surprised me too when it happened it was a huge plot twist to be honest but it was kind of inevitable
Trent MI totally agree with everything that you just said because it is a very small world with very little people and you should cherish that you are still alive because half the population is gone so you might as well be respectful to everyone especially the elderly. Because they dont have as much time to change the world as you do and they have already done there part for the economy.
Alex P.Mrs. Scheller 1st hourThe theme of Rot and Ruin is you shouldn’t let anyone tell you what you can do and what you cant do in live in order to have successful life. Two of Benny’s favorite bounty hunters were bad talking him whenever he wanted to go out in the ruin to find this one girl on whom he had “had” a card of. Another important theme is you should only care about the nearest family members. Like tom has only benny in his life and benny has only tom in his life. The most important theme that is most meaningful is that you shouldn’t let anyone say what you can do and what you can’t do in life.
David M.To Alex P.I agree with you that you shouldn’t let anyone tell you what you can do and what you cant do in live in order to have successful life. Only you tell yourself what to do and how you should act. Another important theme is you should only care about the nearest family members. Like tom has only benny in his life and benny has only tom in his life.
Trent M I agree and i disagree with what you are saying because you can make your own decisions in certain contexts but sometime at certain points in time someone has to be told or has to tell you what to do because sometimes you dont know what you are talking about.
Gene M. Mrs.Sheller 1st hour one of the theme was that six billion people died and they actually came back from the dead.then finds some “new” friends some of them are nice but the others are not nice at all. Benny and his brother are really mad and sad because the zombies took their parents benny’s brother does not want him to kill zombies because he does not want to lose benny to. But benny still wants to still kill zombies even though his brother said no and he will find more of his friends.
Trent M Mrs Scheller 3rd hourOne important theme in the story called Rot and Ruin, is that the more friends that you make the better things will be because people die everyday from the zoms that are behind the walls or they die from diseases or infections and all of those things like that so when you make more friends you will not dwell in the past about you old best friend. Because when you have more friends you will get used to your friends dying a lot quicker unless it was your best friend. But when your family dies that is a completely different context then what this is.
Mohamed K.Mrs.scheller 3rdWhat I would consider the most important conflict in the book Rot and Ruin is when Benny is considering a job at the beginning. Basically everyone in there town needs to get a job by 15 I believe and so Benny is on the hunt and is basically cornered to the last job he didn't want AKA working with his brother Tom. I think its important to the plot that he becomes a zombie bounty hunter with his brother because it just really makes it tangy and full of action and adventure instead of being a boring like key smith or something like that. I reacted with like shock that he did that because he said he hated his brother but when push came to shove he didn't really hate him.
Corey VScheller 7thI disagree with you that the most important conflict was Benny getting a job. I believe the most import conflict was the verb fight between Ben and his brother Tom. It help developed both of the characters and made the book interesting. It also added the twist of when you think he is dead and the remorse of Ben. Only to find out later Tom is alive
Corey VScheller 7th HourThe main idea or theme of the book is hard work leads to success. Through the book life got harder and hard for ben. He ended up on his own without his brother, thinking he was dead. Instead of crying, he saved the girl. Then he attacked the camp and lost serval fist fights. He got up and stood up against Charlie. Him standing up and fighting again killed Charlie and won him the battle with the bounty Hunters. Benny’s hard work saved him and his friends and gave the bounty hunters what the deserve, Death and faliue.
Corey VScheller 7thI enjoyed the book especially the ending. I believe the author is setting up for a new book after this one. The author had a plane come through from the east in the end of the book. I bet the author will have another book where Benny and his brother set out to find where the plane came from.
