I think its going to be about this girl who is being haunted by a ghost from her past. The ghost is trying to tell her something important i,m guessing.

The setting in this story is in the same city and school where Brooklyn’s boyfriend Lucca died. It affects most characters like Brooklyn and Lucca’s brother Nico because it has been a very sad time for them and they can’t seem to get over Lucca’s death. Zach, the person driving the car on New Years that crashed and killed Lucca, had killed himself because he had still felt horrible about Lucca’s death. Zach starts haunting Brooklyn in her dreams which causes Brooklyn to go work out with Nico. They try talking and helping each other out.

    1. That was a good summary of Chasing Brooklyn. You gave a good description of Brooklyn and what she is feeling. I liked how you gave a good descriptions of three characters and described them very well. I think it is Gabe not Zach. But over all it was a good summary.

Janeth, I agree with what you said about how Luccas death affected Brooklyn and Nico a lot, and how Gabe felt horrible about luccas death, because he was the one driving the car when they crashed. Brooklyn and Gabe should help each other a lot, because it seems to work for both of them and, Lucca and Gabe.

The setting is very depressing so the book has to be depressing as well. Brooklyn's boyfriend died in a car crash. Brooklyn's thoughts are always about Lucca or her boyfriend that died. She always is upset about him even though Lucca's brother Nico is trying to help her as much as possible because Lucca's ghost is telling Nico to help Brooklyn not be so depressed. If i was in Brooklyn's place i would understand how hard it is. Even though i never have had a boyfriend die, i could try and get help. I could see where shes coming from because getting over something tragic like that is extremely hard.

I agree with your summary. It would be really hard to get over some that just died that you cared a lot about. You just don't get over someone that ment so much to you over night they just need to give her her space and help her if she asks for help.

The setting of this story has an effect on Brooklyn because it is where her boyfriend died, and before that some other guy died and after Brooklyn’s boyfriend died from a car crash the other guy in the car that survived, Gabe, died from overdose. I feel like the setting has a big effect on Brooklyn because she has to be surrounded by so much death. After lucca, her boyfriend died she didn’t do anything for a year just sat in her room, until Nico, luccas brother, invited her to train with her for a race. Brooklyn is having weird dreams and Gabe is hunting her, telling her not to run from fear, and nico is getting haunted by his brother saying to help Brooklyn. The setting has a big effect on all of this because there is a lot of deaths and the whole place is a little dark.

The book I’m reading is called chasing Brooklyn in is about a girl that is being haunted by her friend that killed himself because he killed Brooklyn’s boyfriend who is haunting his brother nico trying to get him to help Brooklyn who is feeling alone and depressed. Nico is getting anonymous things telling him to help Brooklyn but he doesn’t know how to help her and know what to help her with. They both are afraid to tell each other that they are being haunted because they don’t want to seem like they are crazy and they are afraid that they won’t be friends.

The setting is where Brooklyns boyfriend, Lucca, died. Living there has made it even harder for Brooklyn to get over Luccas death. Soon after Luccas death, a kid Gabe commits suicide. Brooklyn starts to see Gabe in her dreams and Nicco, Luccas brother, keeps getting messages from Luccas ghost telling him to help Brooklyn. If this was happening to me, I would not know what to do. I would be too afraid and shocked to tell anyone. If I was Nicco, I would try to help Brooklyn as much as I could because there is obviously a reason why he keeps getting messages from Lucca.

The setting effects Brooklyn in a negative way because she’s always around the same place that her boyfriend died, it doesn’t make it easy for her to forget about his death. If this happened to me I probably wouldn’t hang out with Lucca’s brother, Nico. It would just make it harder to get over his death by hanging out with his own brother and going to his house all the time to train for the race that they’re doing. Brooklyn is being haunted by Lucca’s friend, Gabe. If I was in Brooklyn’s situation I would tell Nico about Gabe.

I disagree with some of Brooklyn’s decisions because a lot of the time instead of doing things to get Lucca off her mind she used to sit around and just think about him and cry a lot. After Nico, Lucca’s brother invited Brookyln to do a race with him she slowly starts to let her sadness out while she’s training for the race. I think Brooklyn doing this race is a great idea to let go of some stress and sadness. Even though Brooklyn and Nico are both going to miss Lucca a lot, this race will help a lot with stress they may be having. Brooklyn is acting this way because of the death of Lucca. The death of a loved one causes a lot of stress and sadness on people. Doing other things to keep you occupied will help not think so much. A lot of the time people think harder when they are alone and most of the time Brooklyn and Nico are alone.

Brooklyn’s actions in the story are kind of all over the place. Sometimes Brooklyn doesn’t want to be with/near anyone, and other times she does things and don’t even know why. When she has a bad dream she doesn’t want to do anything, and she gets mad and freaks out about a lot. Times she gets so upset and lonely that she does things she doesn’t think about doing, like after she got scared in her room she went to this party, which would’ve nit been good for her. I disagree with these actions because, when she gets scared or feels alone she shouldn’t be by herself, be by something , someone that makes you happy. I believe next time Brooklyn feels like that, she should go run, bike, swim something that is now making her feel better, or go see Nico the only person that gets her right then and there and someone who would do anything to make her happy. She should surround herself with happy thoughts and things when she’s has a bad dream, feels scared, or feels alone,

Gabe is acting very strange towards Brooklyn after he dies. He haunts her in her dreams and Brooklyn is trying to figure out why . He scares her up to the point where she does not want to go work out with Nico the next day. I think what Gabe is doing is wrong because Brooklyn is already going through enough and this is just scaring her even more. But Gabe did this because him and Brooklyn made a promise to help each other out with Lucca’s death. This is how he helped her by scaring her and making her leave everything in the past. There could have been a better way of helping her but at least it helped her and she felt better after.

Janeth, I agree with what you’re saying about Gabe, I feel like he could have thought of a better way to help Brooklyn because he’s actually making a lot of things worse than they already are. If he would have done what Lucca was doing with Nico, just leaving small clues and stuff, I think it would’ve worked more than scaring her every night.

That’s a lot of what I was thinking. Gabe could have found a better way to keep his promise to her, and not the way that made more things complicated, with her life and nico. Gabe could have done what lucca did with nico and give small clues and not scare her so bad she doesn't want to do anything and is scared of everything

I agree with your comment Sam, Brooklyn always wants to be alone instead of being by people that make her happy. She sits alone in her room all depressed but when people ask to help her she kind of pushes them away instead of accepting the help and getting help. It’s a good thing that Lucca reaches out to her and helps her because she needs help weather she asks for it or not.

I agree to your post Janeth, When Gabe overdosed he started to haunt Brooklyn. Gabe doing this didn’t help when she was sad, it made her even more depressed. Brookyn doing this race helps a lot with the stress she is having. Nico’s getting signs from Lucca and Brooklyn is getting signs from Gabe. Lucca knows Brooklyn needs help but she just won’t ask for it.

I think the way Brooklyn acts towards everything is kind of weird. When she’s training for the race, she forgets about all of the sad stuff in her life and just focuses on training, but when Gabe “haunts” her dreams she freaks out and she doesn’t do the training she usually does. If she knows that training for the race and working out helps her, shouldn’t she do it after something scary happens to help calm her down? I don’t know why she doesn’t. And I think Nico should try harder to get her to tell him what’s wrong, I know he’s doing the best he can but I feel like he can do more.

You never know how Brooklyn is going to feel or act next. Sometimes, she is in a good mood and all happy. Other times, she is in a bad mood. Brooklyn is mostly in a bad mood when Gabe appears in her dreams. When he is not in her dreams, she is relieved and in a good mood. I thinks it is bad when she is in a bad mood. Gabe being in her dreams shouldn’t ruin her whole say. When she trains with Nico, it puts her in a good mood and I think she should do that more often.

Sara, I agree with your post because Brooklyn’s dreams about Gabe aren’t always good. He seems to haunt her more than help her know that Lucca’s okay. Nico’s training seems to help Brooklyn’s mind relax a little but when she doesn’t show up for training sometimes it makes things harder on herself and harder for Nico to follow Lucca’s orders by helping her.

I think the most important conflict is when Brookyln and Nico are both experiencing hauntings from loved ones. Lucca is haunting Nico and Gabe is haunting Brooklyn. When Brooklyn finally sees that it is Gabe who is haunting her she wonders whether or not she should tell Nico or not. Nico is trying to figure out whether or not he should tell Brooklyn. This is one of the most important pieces to this puzzle because they both have the right to know but no one will tell. I think at the end of the book if Brooklyn and Nico do tell each other that they will be relieved to know that their loved ones are haunting them.

The most important conflict in the story is, how Brooklyn and Nico don’t know if they should be together or not. I believe this is a conflict because, Lucca is hunting Nico telling him to help Brooklyn, and Gabe is haunting Brooklyn telling her not to run away from fear. During the story Nico and Brooklyn start talking a lot more and hanging out because they know each other feels. Brooklyn and Nico’s relationship is part if the whole story, how they take a step forward and two steps backwards, and when one person does something for the other person they don’t know what it means. They don’t know if it what Lucca wants, or if it be betraying him. They have to figure everything out and then decide.

I think the most important conflict is when Gabe starts haunting Brooklyn. The reason I think that is because ever since Brooklyn has been getting haunted by Gabe she has been being such a downer. People are trying to help her but she just doesn’t want to tell anybody. I think if she’s tell somebody and gets all of thoughts bad stuff out she would feel a lot better about herself and Gabe mite stop haunting her. She doesn’t know why Gabe is haunting her and not Lucca, she wishes that Lucca would be in her dreams but he has only been in her dreams once.

I agree with your post Cody. If Brooklyn were to just let everything out and tell Nico everything I also think that she could get a lot of stress of her shoulders. All that built up stress isn’t helping her or Nico. No matter how weird the fact that their loved ones are haunting them they need to tell each other. Maybe Brooklyn and Nico just need the satisfaction of knowing that Gabe and Lucca are okay.

I agree with what you posted Cody. If Brooklyn wanted to feel better she could have just tell everything nico what is all happening. All the things that are happening to Brooklyn is not good for or nico, because nico wants to know everything and Brooklyn is hiding it. Nico and Brooklyn just need to tell each other everything they will feel better at the end.

I think the most important conflict in the story is when Gabe starts haunting Brooklyn in her dreams and Lucca starts haunting Nico. It is a scary time for Brooklyn and she doesn’t know what to do. Lucca is haunting Nico. He is telling him to help Brooklyn. This causes Nico to worry because he doesn’t know how to help Brooklyn. They are both being haunted and they don’t know if they should tell each other what they are experiencing. Later on in the book they will probably tell each other everything that is happening and everything will get better for both Nico and Brooklyn.

One conflict in Chasing Brooklyn is her constant nightmares with Gabe. Ever since Lucca died, Gabe has been appearing in Brooklyns dreams. They used to be friends but in her dreams, she is terrified of him and tries to run away from him. Gabe tries to tell her to not let fear control her and to choose love. It is an important conflict because her nightmares and Nicco both help Brooklyn to get over Luccas death. To me, I think its good that gabe is trying to help Brooklyn but he should do it in a way that won’t scare her.

The theme of this book I think was to give chances/take chances. When Nico asked Brooklyn to run a tri-Athlon so the race could help her cope with Lucca being gone. So Brooklyn took a chance by running in this race because she has never ran in a race like this before. At the end of the book Brooklyn wrote Nico a letter telling him that she would give him a chance for them to be more than friends. Nico was always there for Brooklyn since the beginning of his brother’s death and no matter what hard stuff they went through Nico was always there for Brooklyn. Nico and Brooklyn would be better more than friends than just friends because most relationships are better knowing they are there for eachother

I agree with your theme Sydney. Giving and taking chances was a big part of this story, on how Nico and Brooklyn both took and gave chances to each other and other people. The tri-Athlon was a big chance for Brooklyn and so was giving Nico a chance because she didn’t think she could ever fell that way towards someone else after Lucca.

Friendship improves happiness. About 1 year after Lucca died, he started haunting his brother Nico. Lucca would tell Nico to help Brooklyn. Nico helped Brooklyn by letting her join a race with him. There would be days better than others but he did make Brooklyn happier than she was. They were both going through the same thing, they lost a loved one. It was easy for them to talk to each other and share their feelings because they could help each other out. This race and the training made Brooklyn forget about thing for a while. Things about Lucca, things about Gabe, and all thanks to Nico who helped her forget about the past.

I think the most import theme is, during difficult times there is always someone looking out for you. For example in the book after Lucca died, Brooklyn felt like she was all alone and had no one until Nico came and showed her she wasn’t and how he has felt the same way. Also in the book, after Gabe died he haunted Brooklyn, which doesn’t seem good, but him and Brooklyn made a promise that they would help each other and Gabe did that to show her life is better than death and not to have fear control your life. Lucca was helping Brooklyn to by go through Nico telling him to help Brooklyn show her that she can get threw everything and that they have each other.

Through everything they were there for eachother.

With the power of friendship you can do anything. Nico and Brooklyn proved this theme! Once Lucca died he startred haunting Nico telling him to help Brooklyn and Nico did not know why lucca was wanting him to help her. Once Nico and Brooklyn started to talk and hang out they started to become really good friends. In the beginning of Nico and Brooklyns friendship Brooklyn would not tell Nico anything about how Gabe was haunting her but after a while they start to trust and be there for each other more. By the end of the story they became a couple and everything stop happening to them.

The theme of Chasing Brooklyn is the power of friendship is stronger than anything else. When Brooklyn and nico would train together, it was helping her to get better about luccas death. They also became really close friends and started to develop feelings for nicco. Another example is when nicco got Brooklyn drawing again. Before lucca died, lucca and Brooklyn used to draw all the time. After he died, Brooklyn stopped drawing because ti made her too sad. Nicco got her drawing again and that also helped brroklyn with luccas death. Friendship is stronger than anything. No matter what you think.
